psychotherapy

If you look at a landscape from above, you gain a different perspective and see new connections. By stepping back, it becomes clear how the world has been organically shaped. Water, wind, and changing temperatures have left scars. There are visible traces and paths that have deepened over time. There is no beginning or end; everything is interconnected. The elements are constantly in motion and transition.

Psychotherapy helps you to zoom out in a similar way and look at your situation with more distance. This overview allows you to gain insight into difficult situations, and the distance helps to approach and experience painful, deeper feelings. You see the traces you have made, the behavior patterns, and the contexts that play a role in your life. Together, we map out your situation and look at how you can create new connections and patterns. The goal is for you to better navigate new situations with the help of your own compass and a strong sense of identity.

Psychotherapy is a process that requires time, sometimes even several years. It takes time to become aware of patterns that have built up over a lifetime and to start experiencing difficult emotions as part of life.

It only works if you are willing to open up and are curious about what you encounter along the way. But the journey is worth it. The name Fardau means “peace,” “protection” in Frisian, and this also describes a bit of the end result of a successful journey: feeling less stuck, more acceptance, calmness, relaxation, and balance.
